Feeding a Divided America
Reflections of a Western Rancher in the Era of Climate Change
“Through the art of storytelling, we can preserve our heritage, educate future generations, and inspire change.” - Philipp Humm
Giles Stockton is an accomplished storyteller. He is also a father, husband, researcher, humanitarian, writer, rancher and fellow Montanan. Why did he write a book now? What was he hoping to accomplish and where would he like our collaboration?
We asked him these questions and more. Hear Gilles Stockton in his own words.
The book is basically about three things. One is the reality of the structure of agriculture as it exists today, with a kind of a short history of how this happened. The second was this rural urban political divide that is currently poisoning our nation. The third was what is going to be the effect of changing climate given the realities of how food is produced in the United States and the world today. So there's three, each complicated things, and they're all interacted in some manner. My audience, in my mind, were people who were already working in this field of food and the policy issues around food.
