Robin Richardson

Robin was born and raised in Alaska and was inspired at age 13 to support the food, beverage and bio products sector as one of Alaska's brightest economic opportunities.    She pursued this most non-traditional career path that her mother still doesn't understand.  Robin's professional career is supported by education, work experience, travel, reading, never ending curiosity and continual connections with many many inspirational people that now meld into what is Global Food Collaborative, LLC.

Robin has a degree in Business from Seattle University and a Masters in Science in Global Supply Chain Management from the University of Alaska.     Early on she worked throughout Alaska in tourism, oil and gas, retail and health.    She moved on to work in the Business Programs at Anchorage Community College and later the University of Alaska and King Career Center.    Her work bridged education and small business and international trade.   Later, she became the Director of the World Trade Center Alaska where she started the first "Business of SeaFOOD" Annual Conference and led several food related initiatives around Alaska called "Food Forums", as well as business missions to Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Chile, Iceland, Norway, Brussels, Russia and Japan.   Robin supplemented her food and trade education with programs offered by State of Washington International Trade Program and the Japanese External Trade Organization.    In 2004 Robin was invited as a special guest of the Japanese Ministry of Trade on a customized mission specifically to look at the relationship between Japan and Alaska for food and the supply chain of food.

In 2004, Robin started Global Food Collaborative - an effort to support sustainable businesses in food, beverage and bio products from Alaska.      Her efforts are focused on working with member companies to support their businesses, to raise the awareness of the value of this industry sector in Alaska and to connect new ideas, capital, products, services and expertise to the very interdependent supply chain of Alaska's food beverage and bio products.

Global Food Alaska facilitates the Global Food Alaska, a bi-annual industry specific show for commercial buyers and sellers.    GFC also produces Collaborative INSIGHTS newsletter with a readership of 12,000+ wordwide and the GFC website.

It Is Such A Dirty Word - Let's Not Talk About It

It is such a dirty word - let's not talk about it.  And by all means, let's not support it in our own community.     Was this where NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) was born?     The word is manufacturing.   Not a word that is friendly to many...
