11:11 - 12:30 - The Greening Of Alaska’s Wild Seafood Supply Chain – Is It Enough?
Suppliers, supply chain partners and buyers work toward responsible green solutions that grow their collective profits and business and support a triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. Ben Dipietro, Director of Editorial Production for Intrafish moderates this roundtable where participants get down to business on what steps Alaska’s wild seafood supply chain is taking or should be taking to meet our buyers expectations of a “green” fish production and supply chain now and in the future? Mitigating green house hases, reduction of carbon footprint, sustainable fisheries and less waste during harvesting, processing, packaging, and transporting are all becoming part of the supplier’s scorecard. What are the best “green” practices used or planned for Alaska's rural (or remote) wild fisheries sector? Are they enough to support a triple bottom line? This round-table outcome supports a common vision of working together with a framework of green practices to support a strong and sustainable Alaska wild fishery and supply chain.

9 am to 12:30pm - Kenai Area Site Visit Join Kenai Borough Mayor Dave Carey (invited) on a 1/2 day tour that includes site visits to get a feel for the commercial capacity of the area as it applies to food, beverge and agri-products.
The tour starts with Kenai River Seafoods, a commercial seafood processor, located at the mouth of the famous Kenai River. See how this premium quality processor receives, processes and distributes its seafood - now with global markets. The tour then stops at the spectacular Trinity Greenhouse for a "food for our soul" tour. Meet the owners who are touted by their colleagues as "the best of the best". Enjoy coffee and smell the roses and then it is on to Alaska Berries where we visit a local farm established to grow berries as an ingredient for other Alaska manufactures and commercial buyers. Top off the trip with a tour of Kenai River Brewing, one of the many micro-brews now operating on the Kenai Peninsula.
