Business is brutal and competitive in normal days. These are not normal days.
The pressures evidenced itself in the conversations I had with people over the last year in preparation and implementation of Global Food Alaska 2009. It was drastically different then 2007, when business was booming and it was pedal to the metal.
Individuals in 2009 are under excruciating pressure to perform in their companies and work. And there are other family, life and health issues that further compound their challenges. People are having a lot of 
problems these days and they are worthy of compassion. Many shared these ordeals with me prior to or at the event and I kept thinking back to an email I received last year.
Nathan Mudd offered this signature line in one of his always kind emails. I hope you find it worthy of practice, as I am always impressed with this very very wise young individual.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!
