2009 Holiday Catalog That Captured My Attention
- 12-3-2009
- Categorized in: Kudos
I moved residences a couple months ago and have been inundated with holiday catalogs addressed to the previous owner. It has been such a long time since I've seen these big brand catalogs. In the old days .... this is how we Alaskans shopped and it was exciting. That was before the internet and the diversity of local shopping opportunities. The world was a very different place.
Now, I looked at these catalogs as a waste of paper, waste of mail carriers effort, waste of cost to the big brand company and now cost to me for disposal of these catalogs. I was surprised these were extra thick catalogs this year, consdering the economic environment. What floored me is that I swear the vendors were peddling the same old thing... the very same sweaters, kitchen mixers and gift packs that were in the catalogs of old. Absolutely nothing appealed to me.
A few days later, I received a mailing of a catalog I had not yet seen that was
definitely not a catalog of old. This one from Vital Choice.
If you have not seen their 2009 Holiday Catalog, you should try to get your hands on one here. It is a sleek 32-page publication that deserves awards and kudos to whoever did the photography for its products. Right off, I wanted the Halibut dinner on the front cover (and still do). In fact, there isn't anything in this catalog that was simply not exceptionally appealing. (On that note: I'd like to suggest that their future Holiday Catalogs be designed as calendars for the coming year so we can "recycle" them in our own homes for the coming year)
The second item that captivated me about this publication were the words used on the cover.
WildPureDelicious
I was mesmerized by those words, because they seemed so clean ... so fresh...so healthy. The image of the Halibut dinner and those three words captivated me, although I was already a subscriber to their e: newsletter. In fact, the entire catalog was designed for the consumer of 2010, not the consumer of the 1970's, as in the big brand catalogs.
Everything they did with this catalog was classy from the mailing envelope the catalog came in to the cover letter from Randy Hartnell, President of Vital Choice. His letter starts out "the gift of good health is one of the finest things we can share with another." He was and has been selling good health through nourishing foods and supplements since I became aware of his company nearly 6 years ago. Wow - he's not selling fish. He's not selling berries. He's not selling gift packs. He's selling good health through healthy eating.
As you can imagine - that is a powerful statement that connects directly with growing population of knowledgable food consumers. Like Hallmark's slogan, "When You Care To Send The Very Best", Vital Choice has upped the ante for gift givers. Buying through Vital Choice says you are concerned enough to send family and friends nourishment for their good health. You care. That is a pretty powerful message to receive this holiday season (and anytime for that matter.)
The 2009 Vital Choice Catalog has a number of new and healthy items beyond its origins in seafood including teas, berries, vinegars, spices and chocolates, of course. Even their order form deserves kudos. It has large font and the layout is appealing and simple, making it that much easier to send the gift of health in 2009.
Congratulations Vital Choice. Great Job And All The Best Health To You And Your Business.
