Authentic Taste and Artistry: The French Oven Bakery
- 11-1-2009
- Categorized in: Market INSIGHTS
While the French Oven Bakery obviously connotes baked goods that you would normally find in a
Boulangerie, it is also well known for its Tres Leches Cakes, a specialty Mexican cake - a hit with the bakeries Hispanic clientele. Other wholesale products include Bread Bowls; White, Wheat, Rye and Marble Rye's, Croissants (many flavors), Focaccia, Bolillo, Cookies, Brioche, Filone Loaf, Teleras, Bread Sticks, Baguettes, Poor Boys, Kaiser, Sourdough rolls and breads, Teleras, pastries and, of course, French Rolls.
The bakery boasts 85% of its original wholesale clientele, still are active customers. We asked Lina what they like about this bakery in particular? Lina states that, "it is the reliability and responsiveness to our wholesale clients that keeps them long-term, but it is our trademark freshness, quality and product selection that gets customers to our door in the very first place."
What makes the French Oven Bakery products taste so outstanding? What's your secret? Lina responds, "while the ingredients and skills are important - the secret is in the process. It has to be 100% accurate, 100% of the time. It's that simple."
The French Oven provides bread for local restaurants including the Middleway Cafe, Snow City, Milano's, Little Italy, Sorrento's, Orso's, the Hotel Captin Cook and more. One of their newest clients is located in Barrow, Alaska requiring Lina to arrange the delivery by commercial airline to the restaurant over 700 miles from her bakery. She'd like to do more of this with restaurants and food service seeking her trademark products and reputation. In fact, during our visit, she invited wholesale buyers to contact her to learn of more ways she can be of service. "How can I be of service to buyers as a local bakery?", Lina asked. "It's our 10 year anniversary and a great time to ask the Alaskan community."
If you are in the Anchorage Area, please consider visiting the bakery and meeting Lina in person. The retail facility is open Monday through Friday, and over lunch they serve soups, salads and sandwiches in the retail bakery store-front. During their normal business hours, you can view their retail offerings of cookies, cakes, croissants and specialty breads. Like most good bakeries, you might want to get there early. Unfortunately, our photo's do not do justice to the artistry of the product AND definitely the taste. We think you'll be suprised how authentic the baked goods look and taste. After you've seen some of the selection, you might be promoted on ideas for your next catered event, your restaurant or retail establishment.
While you're there, don't forget to wish them a Happy 10th!
