Alaska Distillery Wow's Customers And Marketplace

Permafrost1.jpg

You may recognize the brand - Permafrost Vodka.  It was one of the biggest hits at Global Food Alaska 2009 and continues to roll out new ultra premium product and marketing materials.     Recently, the company changed their name from Glacier Creek Distillery to Alaska Distillery and along with that made some other announcements.

Established by 4 Alaskans in 2005, Alaska Distillery had an idea to build and operate a distillery in south central.    While this had been tried before, what made this unique was that its goal was on an ultra premium quality vodka.      What also made this unique was the owner's (Toby Foster, Scotti MacDonald, Winston Chelf and Shawn Ansley) intent to utilize Alaskan ingredients beginning with glacier water and the famous Matanuska Valley potato.  Their mandate is to source local and fresh product wherever possible and are now making a significant transition to local barley, as well.     The owners were also set on a lean and green manufacturing plant that was right-sized for their premium products, yet allowed for product diversification and growth.

They have been true to their ideals and now operate the distillery in Palmer, Alaska sourcing ingredients from independent family farms through a trademark distillation process.      Last month, Alaska Distillery announced the release of 3 new flavored vodka's under the new Frost Bite Brand -  Raspberry, Cranberry and Blueberry flavored vodkas. According to Toby, "Frostbite retains Permafrost quality but with a more affordable price by making it from grain rather then potatoes."  Frostbrite will exclusively come in flavors and get this, Birch Syrup flavored will be added this Spring, as well as a brand new beverage - Alaska Distillery Gin.

Review (Tasting.com) Clear. Clean mild aromas of custard and creamy meringue follow through on a soft, supple entry to a dryish, glycerous medium body with incredible smoothness and hints of powdered sugar and wet river stones on the graceful, elegant finish. An exceptionally clean, seamless, and delicious vodka. Amazing! (tasted on Sep-01-2009)

K&L Distributors represents their product in Alaska while they currently have other distributors in Washington, Montana, Texas and California.   Got a new market area for Permafrost and/or Frostbite?   The owners of Alaska Distillery are open to collaborate and a bit anxious to see their products in overseas markets.

Toby Foster and his partners are a new generation with know-how and enthusiasm  that believe strongly in Alaska.  "I believe in the possibilities that are ahead to produce more ingredients to support more and better food, beverage and agri-products right here at home in our State", remarks Toby.   Looks like that is exactly what they are doing with Permafrost leading the charge.

For those that may be shy of Vodka - at least take a walk around their gorgeous website and get a taste of the company - Alaska Distillery.    And......tell us how many people have a shopping cart that includes glacier ice?
