Air Freight Clientele - HEADS UP - On New Transportation Requirements
- 4-28-2009
- Categorized in: Food Safety And Security
The Commodity Forwarders Anchorage station anticipates being a Certified Cargo Facility by mid-May 2009. Their approval comes from a rigorous security system that assures 100% screening of passenger-aircraft bound product (all product).
What this means to the shipper? It means that CFI, as your air freight forwarder offers a new service to expedite your product through what may be a bottleneck at many passenger airlines.
Until recently, only part of air cargo was required to be screened, but that has been recently increased to 100% by the US Government. The result is that especially during the height of Alaska's fresh seafood season, bottlenecks will occur due to the new scanning/screening requirement. Anyone shipping or receiving perishables of any sort should pay careful attention to these time/temperature ramifications. Remember, too that CFI in Anchorage has chilled/freezers for your perishable needs.
Got questions? Contact PJ below and make certain your sytems are in order to keep safe your product quality. Additionally, Commodity Forwarders offers an on-line tracking system that provides visibility of your product in transit, as well as inventory, packing list and airway bill.
While checking out the latest transport regulations with PJ, ask about the new health certificate requirements that are scheduled to go into effect this summer. Yes, we're confident that summer is around the corner.
