Join the tour, October 27th – 29th, as they journey out into the Aleutian Islands in pursuit of the finest King Crab in the world!  Nobody gives you the knowledge and access that you need to source sustainable, quality crab from Alaska better then the Crab Broker on their annual tour.

Come watch vessels pull up at the dock to offload the first deliveries of the season

• Follow brailers of crab from the boat to the box as you are taken through our state of the art shore based processing facility.
• Watch as crab is butchered, custom graded, and processed.
• Learn what it takes to produce sweet, succulent clusters.
• Watch as their crab is touched by human hands for the last time before it lands in your restaurant or retail store and why no one else in the industry can say that.
• Actually see why their pack is second to none, and will deliver you and your guests the year around consistency found nowhere else.
• Join the group on the F/V Arctic Sea as we take a day trip to actually show you how gear is baited, launched and hauled back.
• Throw the hook!
• Spend time in the Wheelhouse and see why and where the skippers choose to set their gear.
• Meet some of the boys off Deadliest Catch
And now the good part! After all of that is over, you'll eat crab! You will be their guests for 2 nights of the most succulent seafood dinners you have ever had. Be prepared to say "I can’t eat anymore King Crab”. They guarantee you’ll say it! Their dinners cap off 2 great days full of fun, education, adventure, crab pots, crab bait, tv stars, skippers, deckhands, and everything King Crab.

Itinerary:
Saturday October 27th – Welcome reception and lunch at the Grand Aleutian Hotel in Dutch. You can fly out that morning from Anchorage, or fly from Anchorage Friday night. After lunch they’ll hit the docks to see who is offloading and tour the plant, then take a ride out to the Spit and the potyards. Sat night they'll have a cocktail reception, fantastic dinner, and an auction for a local charity.

Sunday October 28th – They’ll take a late morning trip out on the F/V Arctic Sea and launch some gear, have lunch and come back and pull some pots. Back at the dock mid afternoon and you can go take a nap, hang out at the plant, or check out Dutch Harbor (Unalaska) before the Sunday night dinner.

Monday October 29th – Leave Dutch for Anchorage.

Flights – The official trip begins with a welcome reception and lunch at The Grand Aleutian Hotel on Sat afternoon, so you either need to fly into Dutch on the morning flight Saturday, or fly in on Friday night. Tickets right now are $898, and Alaska Air has a 10% discount if you use meeting code CMR 9672 when you make your reservations. You must use this code when you book your tickets to get the discount. You can book at alaskaair.com or call 1800 503 0101 for reservations. This discounted rate is good from October 23 – November 2nd if you choose to get into Dutch earlier or stay later.

Hotel – The group will be staying at The Grand Aleutian Hotel in Dutch. Rates are $135.00 + tax per night for single rooms and $155.00 per night + tax for doubles. To get this rate you need to contact Dan Young at 907-581-9764 or dan.young@unisea.com and tell him you are with The Crab Broker. There is a September 1st cutoff for this rate, and as of right now Discovery Channel already has 30+ rooms booked for filming the show so you need to get your reservations made asap to insure availability.

What you need to bring – The weather is usually 30-45 degrees, and you will see rain and sleet and maybe snow. Dress is Dutch Harbor formal which is jeans, boots and warm jacket. Footwear should be something you don’t mind getting wet and muddy, because that is Dutch in October. The Crab Broker will be taking care of lunch and dinner on Sat and Sunday, so if you need more than coffee for breakfast, count on that. Bring your camera, some souvenir cash, and of course beer money for a tour of the famous Elbow Room.  RSVP to the Crab Broker if you have an interest, as space is limited to 50 attendees.
