Phyllis Buzzini of Alaska Silk Pie Company started her specialty desserts in Anchorage over 20 years ago. Her markets quickly grew into national gift catalogs and gourmet food retailers across the country driving her to relocate her production in Seattle. It was with great pleasure that we learned at Global Food Alaska 2007 that Phyllis was collaborating with Will and Vanessa McDonald of the Confectioner’s Studio to once again offer the famous Alaska Silk Pie's to Alaska's loyal customers.

Premiere Desserts Return To Serve Alaskan Restaurants/Food Service
Will and Vanessa launched Confectioner's Studio in 2007.  Will is a talented pastry chef with a degree in baking and pastry from Johnson & Wales. He has been on the Food Network and has a long working history with Phyllis and the Alaska Silk Pie Company during its early business growth in Alaska.

Confectioner's Studio doesn't "Just Do Silk", but offers a broad array of gourmet desserts and confections for their restaurant and food service customers.  They offer wedding cakes and baked goods—muffins, pastries, cookies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, fudge and more on a daily basis to restaurants, hotels and caterers in Anchorage and around the State of Alaska.   But for those that may have missed their Alaska Silk Pie's delivered fresh in Alaska, without the special mailings from Seattle, it is back and we're thrilled to see it on the menus again.

For those who did not hear Phyllis Buzzini at this year's Global Food Alaska Conference, she conveyed her personal story of starting Alaska Silk Pie, 21 years earlier.  The full-story, in her own words is on her website.   It begins with utilizing her friend's restaurant in the middle of the night to prepare the first "silks" and, as you may have seen last month, yet another appearance on the Food Network.

Today, she has a wide variety of "Alaska Silk Pie" flavors and creates incredible and unique signature desserts for guests and patrons around the world.  Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Bergdorf's, Norm Thompson, Princess Tours, Holland America, China Air, Aeroflot Airlines and the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation are some of their valued partners, as well as hotels and restaurants around the country.
